Hosta 'Orange Marmalade' PP#16, 742. The long, veined heart-shaped leaves emerge in spring with dark green edges and a rich gold-to-orange center. As the weather warms, the color turns to yellow and finally white, with the occasional streak of gold remaining well into summer. You may have three or even four colors present at once on these 7 -inch-long, 5 -inch-wide leaves, as the dark green of the jagged margins gives way to blue, then a slip of yellow, and finally white in the center. The leaves are very weather-tough and destined to grow more beautiful each year, as the sharp, symmetrical veining becomes more pronounced. This hosta grows vigorously, quickly forming a clump 20 inches high and about 3 feet wide. In midsummer it sets 2-inch pale lavender blooms high above the foliage. Like all hostas, it is indifferent to soil type (provided the drainage is good) and tolerates heat, humidity, and cold very well.
